THE HI-DOLLAR WAREHOUSE

230 S. GOLDSBORO STREET

WILSON, NORTH CAROLINA

Request for Qualifications: Wilson Downtown Properties, Inc. (WDP) is seeking proposals for the redevelopment of the Hi-Dollar Warehouse located in Wilson, North Carolina.

Building Description: Once known as the “World’s Largest Tobacco Market,” Wilson built massive tobacco warehouses to auction tons of the bright leaf tobacco.  The Hi-Dollar Warehouse was one of the first tobacco warehouses constructed in Wilson in 1896.  Containing more than 64,000 square feet, it displays some of the best examples of the brick-mason’s art to be found in the warehouse district.  The southwest elevation is dominated by massive brick piers and pilasters that carry the building over a sloping lot.  Along this elevation is a loading platform with access to the interior provided by a series of large, arched doors.
