to encourage development in the Downtown Central Business District. In order to stimulate interest with
property owners, developers and investors, the Wilson Downtown Development Corporation (WDDC) Board of
Directors realize a pro-active role must be taken. For this reason, this Economic Incentives Program was

Why rent when you can own? Take advantage of the Owner Occupied Building
Grant and receive up to $8,400 to help with the purchase price. Some
business owners may be eligible to apply for a two-year extension.
- This is the same concept as the Rent Grant; however, we offer this
program to encourage building ownership for pedestrian oriented
businesses.

Tiers of Priority for Incentive

Grant Awards of up to $8,400 to attract pedestrian-oriented businesses
- Restaurants, antique shops, arts related shops and services are encouraged to apply

When the award period has expired for Rent Grant Applicants, some businesses may be eligible to apply for a
two-year extension.
- Grant awards of up to an additional $8,400.
- With this Extension, the Rent Grant Program may offer up to $16,800 for strong businesses that greatly add to
the downtown economic base.

Grant Awards of up to $10,000 dollars to enhance building exteriors
- Up to $2,500 for the project costs for work up to $5,000
- An additional 10% for all project costs for work $5,001 - $80,000
- $1,000 minimum project investment

Up to 40% tax savings on all typical construction costs when renovating an eligible
historic building in the Central Business District
- Costs covered by tax credit include, but are not limited to: plumbing, electric, architectural and engineering

NC Rural Centers Micro Enterprise Loan Program
- Loans from $500 up to $25,000 to those that have had difficulty with traditional lending sources. Interest rate
is set at prime plus 4% and can be used for operating expenses, inventory and equipment.
